Around the Bay Training Clinic 2010

 

Please note that I will not be hosting the Friday evening clinic in 2010. I have updated the schedule and feel free to use it for your training.

I will be coaching an integrated paid Half Marathon / Around the Bay / Marathon clinic in conjuction with Neworld Runners on Plains Road in Burlington on Sundays. The weekly clinics are geared towards the first time Bay runner but we welcome runners of all abilities who wish to improve upon their times with training focused on the Northshore hills section of the Around the Bay course.

We run every Sunday morning out of the La Salle Park parking lot in Burlington. At this time we haven't worked out the details but I'm anticipating an 8:00 AM start.

I have published all the run routes on Map My Run and I have a training schedule spreadsheet if anyone is interested.


Where: We start and finish at the La Salle Park parking lot on Northshore Bvd, in Burlington.
When: Every Sunday 8:00 AM starting January 10, 2010. Initial kick of meeting should be held on Wednesday evening January 6, 2010 at Neworld Runners store.
Distance: A graduated training runs starting at 5 miles (8km) adding one mile each week, up to 16 miles.
Cost: Free, if done on your own. If you wish to join my coached clinic, please contact Neworld Runners for more information.
Who: First time Half Marathon, Around The Bay and Marathoners. ATB and Marathon participants should be able comfortable with running 10 km at the start of the program, half marathoners should be comfortable with 8 km.

Note: This traditionally has been the only training run not done from La Salle Park. We have a driver, water and snacks for a supported run on Saturday morning. We start at Dundurn Castle parking lot and run to the Snack Bar (and washrooms) on the Burlington Beach Waterfront Trail path and back again. Keeners will be encouraged to run out and turn around at the lighthouse at the end of the canal pier.

This is the time to try out all your race clothing and your nutrition plan. Do what you will be doing on race day.
