2020 Around The Bay Training Info

After a few years absence, I am back hosting the FREE Around the Bay training clinic in 2020.

Instead of running Friday evenings, we are switching to Sunday mornings at 9:00 AM

The 12 weekly clinics are geared towards the first time Bay runner but we welcome runners of all abilities who wish to improve upon their times with training focused on the Northshore hills section of the Around the Bay course.

We run every Sunday morning out of the LaSalle Park parking lot in Burlington, leaving at 9:00 AM sharp!

For safety reasons, please wear appropriate clothing and footwear for the weather conditions and visibility. I will award runners with vests of shame for the run if I don’t think you are visible enough.  Safety first!

I have created maps for all the run routes (see below) and also on Map My Run. I have also made available an online training schedule and a downloadable Excel spreadsheet training schedule, if you are interested.

Only 12 weeks to prepare for the 2020 race. We’ll start training runs on Sunday January 5th.


Where: We start and finish at the LaSalle Park parking lot on Northshore Blvd, in Burlington.
When: Every Sunday @ 9:00 AM starting January 5, 2020.
Duration: 12 weeks
Distance: A graduated training runs starting at 8 km (5 miles) adding 1.6 km (one mile) each week, up to 26 km (16 miles).
Cost: Free, just show up with your running gear on.
Who: First time Half Marathon, Around The Bay and Marathoners.  ATB and Marathon participants should be able comfortable with running 10 km at the start of the program, half marathoners should be comfortable with 8 km
